Spots & Stripes

Spots are circular marks, stripes are linear marks and both differ in colour or tone from their surroundings. Dots and lines are the building blocks for drawing and painting whether small or large, thin or thick they can suggest delicacy, strength or drama. Connected or disconnected they determine form, space, texture and movement. Crossing cultures from pre-history to contemporary art and design the vibrating mixture of spots and stripes has universal visual impact. My collaged figures torn from the fusion of memory and imagination present a bizarre performance of posing and posturing taken from the theatre of fashion.
